The HRView on Key Scale Up Challenges –
Too much work yet not enough to immediately hire – How do you reprioritize your team?
Look at the teams delivering individual targets. Usually if you are at PHASE1 – there may be an individual contributor for backend roles or it may be outsourced, and your revenue generating teams may be heavily crossed between meeting clients and submitted reports.
So foremost
1. Ensure they communicate effectively amongst themselves, and if it a services or products related there are no loose ends. Clients need not know your internal challenges.
Have daily stand- up meets or team huddles.
2. Plan work Ensure that they all plan their week and also set aside time for ad-hoc or unforeseen emergencies both work and personal. SO that they can align their individual goals to the organization’s goals. Then an organization can run like a well-oiled machine. Because all parts of the large machinery are in alignment
3. Discuss wins and losses both in weekly meets. Discuss a tough delivery loop with a client or a minor issue with a vendor which keeps repeating, but look at internal processes directly associated with these incidences. It’s easier to correct the internal than the external.
Hope these tips will help you ace your people related challenges during your scale up phases.
