So, you as a business owner decided to launch a new business line or a whole new vertical. How do you ensure your vision as cascaded till the very feet on street person? You call your leaders, share the vision and collectively come up with company goals to be achieved in the coming year or so. Now what is the next step? Your leaders use their skills and expertise and come up with their approach plan. You all brainstorm and come up with the most feasible way of operating. Goals are finalized and delegated all through the hierarchy and now what’s expected that each of the departments will work in sync with one another and people too will align their personal goals to organization goals and it will be a collective effort where we meet desired targets in standard time. But does it happen so simply? More often than not, you will be met with challenges of budget, bandwidth, regulation, technology and even preparedness. With your expertise you successfully navigate all the above with your influencing skills. What about preparedness? How do you align your people such that the organization works together like one whole arm in itself? Its easier said than done. Most leaders will hold meetings or townhalls and communicate the message. But has it been enough? For a car to run at its maximum efficiency, all wheels need to be in perfect alignment with one another. If one wheel is too aggressive and another too docile, it may work yet not friction free. Humans being more complicated than tyre’s may need a better process of ALIGNMENT. So, a successful leader delegates a goal in such a way that it becomes an individual goal by itself. So far so good. But the devil is in the detail. How do you bring alignment between people? The right messaging across systems and processes helps largely that’s how CULTURE is built, but how does one ensure its ingrained?
We have accepted friction as if it’s our second nature. But in between ego tussles and bandwidth issues and work life balance- how do you build a DREAM?
As you catch the right channel on radio by tuning in the right frequency, so can human beings align by tuning to the same frequency. FINDING A COMMON GOAL.
By creating a SENSE OF BELONGING. By incentivizing the right behavior. By setting the right performance metrics!
