The HRView on Key Scale Up Challenges –

Hey there! Have you ever wondered, when is it that countries actually prepare for war? Do you think it is at the time of war or peace? Any guesses? PEACE! Exactly. Just as how, we purchase groceries beforehand and not when we are hangry. Same goes with organization systems. Especially one of the most underrated systems of all times-HR. While as business owners and founders you may think that you will work towards it when the ‘time is right’ and things are going on ‘just fine’, believe me the term ‘firefighting’ may be casually used in our office spaces, but it gets REAL. And at such a time, we don’t know how much time there will be at hand. Quick fixes, desperate hiring, firing, restructuring and expecting results in 2 weeks, may be far fetched and not entirely impactful; at the time.

So, its simple, Make hay when the Sun shines. Prepare for War at Peace. Don’t expect health if you keep prolonging your diet, nutrition and exercise and downtime. Rather, Make hay when the Sun shines Hehe. Jokes apart. A robust HR system will see you through at tough times. Yes, people will stick out their necks for you. Yes, your people will show loyalty, yes, your vendors will wait for payments, but you know what its all left to chance. I do not need to tell you that the more uncontrollable ‘variables’ are in play, the more we are away from predictable results. Then its left to chance. While we love risks, and its thrilling, but only a measured risk is truly adventurous, anything else seems reckless.
Here are 5 signs you can watch out for that should be immediate RED FLAGS for you to fix-

1.     When employee attendance and timings start becoming a problem
2.     When your talent team starts to underperform or worse, leaves
3.     When people start coming to you directly with their problems
4.     When vendors start pulling away or worse delay your work persistently
5.     When your HR team stops communicating with you proactively
